Senior Pastor - Don Cowart

Pastor Don Cowart joined our congregation May 1, 2011. We are very pleased to welcome him to Church of the Cross. Pastor Don was born in Modesto and was even a member of the first graduating class of Modesto Christian High School. He attended college in Pennsylvania and graduate schools in the Netherlands and Michigan. After completing his education he served churches in Ontario, Canada and South Dakota. Although returing to the Modesto area is a homecoming, Pastor Don says it is also a very new place. A town that was 80,000 is now a city of 200,000 with a variety of cultures and languages. Where Church of the Cross now is, was at that time farm land. Pastor Don's first priority is to become acquainted with the congregation and the community. Church of the Cross, he says, is a small diverse and welcoming congregation eager to serve the community in the name of Christ.

 Youth Director - Ryan Hesse

Meet Ryan Hesse, our youth director at Church of the Cross. Ryan leads 412 Crew, a youth group, on Thursday nights at 6:30pm. He also directs Aroma, a youth service, on Sunday mornings at 9:00am during the school year. Ryan married Shelly in and has been with COTC since 2005. He is attentive to the needs of the youth. He enjoys soccer, working on their house, photography, music, and playing with their dog.

Secretary - Heather Weinert

Meet Heather Weinert, our secretary at COTC. Heather has served as secretary at Church of the Cross since September of 2010. She enjoys working with the people at COTC and serving in ministry. Heather loves God, her husband Adam, missions, languages, reading, and dancing.
